Chirpy is a robot which has been domesticated and caged. He responds to human presence around his cage with dances and chants. This art piece explores our relationship with robots and the empathy we can develop for them.
The robot is piloted by an Arduino board and its moves are programed in Vezér. The sound of its articulations is recorded thanks to piezoelectric microphones and amplified by a portable speaker.
Chirpy was designed by Jonathan Richer and David-Alexandre Chanel from Théoriz studio. I helped with the integration and set-up of the piece during my internship there. It was displayed for 2 weeks at St. Priest Castle.
